“Person Centred Software’s system enables us to measure residents’ quality of life through using their MCM Care App, so we can prove that our activity-led approach to residents’ care is effective.”Luke Rothwell
Grenham Bay Court is a 32-bed care home known for its homely, comfortable surrounding with a warm family atmosphere. The home has embraced new technology by using interactiveMe and Person Centred Software’s Mobile Care Monitoring system.
InteractiveMe is a tablet based therapeutic tool for people in care homes which staff can use to develop positive relationships and engage people in deep and meaningful conversations and personalised activities. The team at interactiveMe, led by Occupational Therapist Sam Dondi-Smith, set up a resident’s profile with the support of staff and families and they contain meaningful snippets of information which are relevant to the individual such as personal photos, favourite music, videos and someone’s life story. This information enables staff at the home to have a better understanding of the person behind the condition, particularly if they have a diagnosis of dementia.
Measuring quality of life using new technology
Grenham Bay Court use Mobile Care Monitoring to evidence and document the use of interactiveMe which will help demonstrate its therapeutic benefits to families and the inspectorate. Home Manager at Grenham Bay Court, Luke Rothwell said ‘Mobile Care Monitoring saves care staff time on administration and paperwork, as all care recording is done electronically at the point of care. Person Centred Software’s system enables us to measure residents’ quality of life through using their MCM Care App, to know that our activity-led approach to care is effective.’
Grenham Bay Court staff have also reported an increase in staff time as a result of digitising their care planning which will enable them to use therapeutic tools such as interactiveMe to better effect. This will undoubtedly enhance the quality of psychological and social care delivered by staff to their residents.
