The Downes Residential Home in Cornwall uses Person Centred Software’s electronic care planning system to save time and money as a small care home.

Registered manager, Steven McLean, is enthusiastic about the benefits of using the system. “Now I can access and analyse care records from any location as the system is cloud-based. This means any laptop, tablet or desktop computer! I can see full records of my residents’ care plans, care notes and a live stream of care delivery as it happens.”

“We can communicate residents’ preferences to everyone and ensure they receive the highest quality of care. This saves us so much time; time that we now spend with residents.

“The QR code and bar code functionality for room visits is also a great tool for safeguarding.”

Saves small care homes money and extra resource

Denise Kara, deputy manager, estimates that The Downes saves “around £200 a month on ink and paper. We also save money employing a senior member of care staff to write reviews. Insights are now auto-compiled for us in the electronic care planning system.”

Steven says, “It was fantastic to see from the very start the potential to calculate residents’ care prices based on how much care they received. This is useful for the management team to meet Care Act requirements and to increase funding if applicable.”
