Highlights from Dementia Care & Nursing Home Show 2018

Robin Wells, director at Person Centred Software takes us through the highlights of the Dementia Care & Nursing Home Show 2018 that we exhibited at, and our co-founder Jonathan Papworth spoke at below...

Person Centred Software enjoyed a successful and productive time at the Dementia Care & Nursing Home Show at the NEC in Birmingham this week.

It was a great opportunity to say hello to many of our ever-growing customer base (670 homes implemented to date).  A year ago, our customers were creating around 500,000 new care notes each and every day – this month we have broken the ONE MILLION barrier and we hope that this will double again next year!  Many customers came along to see how innovation is helping to improve care and they confirmed that that Person Centred Software continues to lead the way in innovative electronic care recording systems.

With over 100 enquiries the show proved to be a great success as our sales team were rushed off their feet giving demonstrations and explaining the benefits of Mobile Care Monitoring.

In the theatre, co-founder of Person Centred Software, our very own  Jonathan Papworth gave a popular presentation on how transparency of care helps to improve outcomes in care homes – it was standing room only for this one.

Other notable presentations came from Vic Rayner from National Care Forum (NCF), who spoke about the issues around equality, diversion and inclusion. Whilst Professor Martin Green from Care England spoke passionately about what is good dementia care and how people need a life rather than a series of healthcare services – calling for care providers to “screw local authorities to the carpet”, as the notion that local authorities can get high quality care for low fees is just not feasible and that we need to get tougher as a sector, otherwise the funding that is being offered is just not sustainable in the medium term. Stephen Dorrell and Henry Elphick of LaingBuisson revealed the latest economic figures in our £16bn market, of which 40% of funding alone is absorbed by residents with dementia (£6.1bn).

It was a tiring but exciting two days and we enjoyed seeing old friends and making new acquaintances. Thank you to all those who came to visit us, we’ll be back again next year!

If you missed us at Dementia Care and Nursing Home Expo, we will be exhibiting and speaking at Health + Care in June and the Care Show in October. Book your tickets and come and meet us!
