About The Healey
Published: 8 Oct 2024
Giving residents more than one-way updates
The Healey wanted a more engaging way to communicate with its retirement living community. Its previous app offered limited functionality and mainly supported one-way communication, leaving residents with fewer opportunities to interact with the village team or access useful services themselves. General Manager Sally Pickering wanted a solution that would encourage residents to get involved, make everyday information easier to access and support stronger communication between residents and staff.
Making village life more interactive
The Communications Management tool, powered by Centrim Life, gives residents a convenient way to stay connected with their community. Residents can receive real-time updates, book community events, submit maintenance requests and access important documents. The Healey also shares short 60-second 'How To' videos, helping residents learn how to use appliances and discover new village features.
These practical resources have been well received, with the village reporting increased participation in activities, quicker resolution of issues and less administrative work for staff.
Building confidence through Resident Champions
Getting residents comfortable with the technology was an important part of the rollout. Alongside PCS training, The Healey introduced Resident Champions who encouraged neighbours to try the app and supported them as they learned to use it.
The benefits have extended beyond the village itself. Resident Chris Smith shared that he could continue using the app while visiting family in the USA, keeping in touch with friends and following activities back at The Healey.
Embracing technology alongside our residents sets a positive, forward-thinking tone for how we communicate and operate the village.

A community that stays connected
At The Healey, a strong village community is built through everyday conversations, shared experiences and opportunities to get involved. By encouraging residents to embrace technology together, The Healey has created another way for those relationships to grow, helping residents feel connected to their community wherever they happen to be.
