Making everyday progress visible for people with learning disabilities
Quality Reliable Care uses PCS Care to make everyday progress easier to record, recognise and build on for people with learning disabilities. With clearer care notes, goal tracking and personal routines in one place, teams can evidence support more easily and help each person move towards greater confidence and independence.
About Quality Reliable Care
Quality Reliable Care provides specialist care services across Horam, Eastbourne, Ninfield and Little Common in Bexhill-on-Sea, supporting people with learning disabilities, domiciliary care and supported living.
Its residential home, Valley View Barn, supports men and women over 18 with learning disabilities or difficulties. The organisation also provides shared and independent supported living, with teams focused on helping each person live as independently as possible and stay connected to their local community.
For Quality Reliable Care, good care records need to show more than tasks completed. They need to reflect each person’s routines, goals, choices and progress. PCS Care gives the team a clearer way to record that support as it happens.
The challenge
Quality Reliable Care supports people with learning disabilities and difficulties who may need extra encouragement to build confidence, access the community and work towards personal goals. That means care records need to be practical and personal. Staff need to record daily care accurately, but they also need to capture the details that show whether someone is becoming more independent, taking part in activities, building routines or moving closer to a goal.
The team also needed information to be easier to find during conversations with health professionals. When records are spread across different places, staff can lose time searching for the right detail, and managers have less visibility of what has been recorded. Quality Reliable Care needed one place for care notes, goals, charts, reports, care plans and personal information, so teams could spend less time looking for records and more time supporting the people in their care.
Supporting care notes, goals and community life in one place
PCS Care gives Quality Reliable Care a faster way to record care, track goals and keep important information together. Staff can record care notes on handheld devices throughout the day, so information is captured closer to the moment of care. Those notes can then update charts, reports and care plans, giving the team a clearer view of what has happened and what each person may need next.
That matters in learning disability care because progress is often built through everyday actions. A shopping trip, a GP appointment, a day out or a step towards a personal goal can all show how someone is building confidence and independence. With PCS Care, those moments are easier to record and easier to revisit if needed.
Goal tracking: breaking bigger goals into achievable steps
Quality Reliable Care uses PCS Care to support short-term and long-term goals for people with learning disabilities and difficulties. The team can break larger goals down into smaller outcomes, add the actions needed to achieve them and track progress over time. That gives staff a clearer way to support each person and helps residents see how their own progress is developing.
The goal tracking dashboard also gives managers a broader view of the goals set for each person, with charts that show trends and outcomes. That makes it easier to understand what is working, where someone may need more encouragement and how support can be adjusted. For Quality Reliable Care, this is one of the most useful parts of PCS Care because it connects care recording with the person’s wider life.
Who I Am: keeping personal routines and wishes visible
The Who I Am feature helps Quality Reliable Care record the personal detail that shapes better support. Staff can capture what matters to each person, including routines, life stories, wishes and care plan summaries. That information helps teams deliver more responsive care and gives health and care professionals a clearer understanding of the person behind the record.
For people who may feel anxious when routines change, this detail matters. Keeping personal routines visible helps staff provide more consistent support and reduce avoidable distress.
Recording support while out in the community
Quality Reliable Care also uses PCS Care when staff are supporting people outside the home. Care notes can be recorded on handheld devices during day trips and community activities, even when there is no Wi-Fi connection. Once the device is back online, the notes update automatically. This gives staff a practical way to record care while life is happening. Whether someone is visiting the zoo, going shopping or attending an appointment, the team can capture the support provided without waiting until the end of the shift.
It was the best decision we ever made. With the system, we can monitor and evidence care as it happens in real-time throughout the day; care notes are now more accurate, and care teams don't have to remember what they've done anymore because they can record care notes on the go.

Helping people build confidence through visible progress
Quality Reliable Care’s work is centred on helping people with learning disabilities and difficulties live with more independence, confidence and connection. With PCS Care, progress becomes easier to recognise in the moments that matter: a goal reached, a routine followed with more confidence, a community activity completed or a personal achievement recorded. Each note adds to a clearer picture of the person’s journey, giving staff, managers and wider care professionals better evidence to understand what is working and where support can keep moving forward.
