Inspection Report

‘We also saw staff were able to access information quickly as people’s risk assessments and care plans were inputted on to an electronic system. The system was accessed through lap top computers and handheld devices so staff could see if a person’s needs had changed each time they accessed the system. This showed the processes in place at the service were being used by staff to reduce the risks to people’s safety.’

‘The company’s electronic care planning system was also used to support staff when assessment tools had highlighted any issues of concern. For example, when one person’s MUST score showed they required increased monitoring of their weight, this would be highlighted for staff on the electronic system. This meant people could be assured their needs were effectively managed and monitored.’

‘Staff we spoke with told us they were able to read the care plans as they could access them on both the computer and on the hand held devices used to record the daily care. Staff told us the senior staff let them know if there were changes they needed to be aware of in people’s care plans. Staff told us the handovers and regular meetings helped with communication about the care people needed.’
