About the Downes Residential Care Home
The Downes Residential Care Home, based in Hayle, a harbour town in the picturesque countryside of West Cornwall, offers the highest quality of care and accommodation for older adults (65+) with learning disabilities or who require round-the-clock dementia care.
Providing specialist care to those who need it most while maintaining a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment so residents feel right at home, The Downes, a Grade II-listed building, has 31 bedrooms and 7 acres of beautiful historic gardens overlooking stunning ocean views.
Steven McLean, Registered manager at the Downes Residential Care Home, discusses how Person Centred Software's electronic care planning system has proven to be a valuable time and cost-saving tool, giving their care teams more time to spend with residents doing the things they enjoy.
Our care home has been utilising Person Centred Software's electronic care planning system (a digital social care record solution) since 2014 to document all aspects of care. It's been instrumental in helping us to achieve positive outcomes for all our residents. It also reduces administrative tasks and gives our care teams more time to care for and spend with our residents doing the things they enjoy.
As a care manager, I highly recommend the electronic care planning system for its numerous benefits. This system provides everything needed to manage, monitor and deliver person-centred care. In addition, it's user-friendly and easily accessible from any location; being cloud-based, I can access and analyse care records, care plans, care notes and real-time information about the care being delivered from any device, be it a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer.
I also like the electronic care planning system's icons; they are perfect for carers who may not speak English as their first language, help to simplify the process of writing care notes and help to record information accurately, quickly and easily. Overall, this feature is a great time-saver.
Protecting resident data and minimising risk
As we know, handwritten documents can pose serious risks, from a carer struggling to read messy handwriting to a medication error caused by a spelling mistake. Person Centred Software's electronic care plans offer a far more consistent and legible format that can help mitigate these risks, as all the resident's health and care data is safely and securely stored within its robust and reliable electronic care planning system, which has countless backup protocols to protect the data, ensuring information remains secure.
I highly recommend using Person Centred Software's Connected Care platform, as it has greatly improved the security and management of our resident's health and care data. Additionally, it has streamlined our daily processes, making them more efficient.
Denise Kara, deputy manager at the Downes Residential Care Home, says, "Our care home has experienced a significant positive impact since implementing Person Centred Software's electronic care planning system. We save around £200 a month on ink and paper, and our care teams now have more time to care.
The system simplifies our work and allows us to provide health and care professionals with a secure view and quick access to people's health and care information when needed. Furthermore, it helps us to deliver person-centred care, gives managers and care staff insights into residents' wants and needs and massively helps with our CQC inspections.'’
As a care manager, I strongly recommend Person Centred Software's electronic care planning system; it offers all the essential tools for managing, monitoring, and delivering high-quality person-centred care.
