Recognising Bianca at RG Care home for her innovation around writing and designing the home’s newsletters

Naming and celebrating the stories of our champions of care

This year, Person Centred Software hosted the Champions of Care Awards to honour our everyday heroes working behind the scenes in the social care sector, these awards celebrate some of the hardest-working and most passionate individuals!

BiancaOne of our incredible winners, Bianca Rovai, Farmhouse Registered Manager, won our Digital Innovation Award and here is her story.

Bianca Rovai, who has been working in the care sector for over ten years, lives in Essex and is employed by RG Care.

The social care sector caught Bianca's attention after finishing college, and she was inspired by her tutor, who motivated her to look into it further. Bianca did several work placement days until she found her passion, supporting and working with people with a learning disability.

Since working for RG Care, Bianca has had the opportunity to write the RG Care newsletters so all the residents, their families and carers can stay up to date with what's happening within the home. As well as designing the newsletters, Bianca has also demonstrated great talent when writing them.

When asked what she loved most about writing the newsletters, she said, "I enjoy giving the newsletters a person-centred touch. I enjoy spreading the news about achievements and upcoming and past events and activities and showing photographs of all the residents having fun."

One of Bianca's favourite activities is going to Bubble Club on Brick Lane in London. Bubble Club is an award-winning vibrant, creative, fun and funky nightclub run by and for people with learning disabilities and those without. The events are fully inclusive, and anyone can go. Bianca enjoys jumping around to the music and watching others enjoy themselves.

''I speak for many of us when I say, when is the next one? I'm coming!''

When Bianca was asked what she would say to someone wanting a social care career, she said, "Definitely, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Have a look around and find the right place for you. There are many different areas within social care; I thought it was just elderly care, which I love, but when I found LD, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The journey is so rewarding; helping people achieve their goals and seeing their faces light up is something I can cherish forever."
