New government must help care providers invest in tech

The new government must play a role in the development of policies aimed at increasing the digital maturity of the social care sector, industry organisations have urged.

In a letter sent to Care Home Professional and sister title Home Care Insight, Care England and healthcare tech company Medopad said the current underfunding of social care was a “limiting factor” in the development of technology.

The letter states: “The new government must play its own role in the development of policies aimed at increasing the digital maturity of the social care sector. The current underfunding of social care is a limiting factor in the development of technology and future government policy must therefore seek to support and create the right conditions to enable providers to invest in such technologies.
