Two leading healthcare technology providers have announced the extension of a joint contract, which will continue to transform care delivery by making the latest technology available to carers.

Ascom and Person Centred Software first announced their partnership in June 2019, signing a £2.67m joint contract to provide 7,800 smartphones to care home staff. Under the agreement, Ascom UK’s Myco 3 smartphone became the standard device for staff in over 1,200 care homes using Person Centred Software’s mobile care monitoring products.

Following a successful first year in partnership, Person Centred Software and Ascom are delighted to announce that the contract is to be extended for a further two years until the end of 2022, committing to providing over 12,000 additional units of the Ascom Myco 3 smartphone to care personnel across the 2,000 homes in the UK that are now using Person Centred Software’s products.

When equipped with Person Centred Software’s award-winning Mobile Care Monitoring system, the Ascom device allows staff to digitally plan, record and monitor the care of residents in near real-time, saving carers up to an hour per day in burdensome paperwork and admin. Ascom is known for its mobile devices which not only improve workplace efficiency, bringing together critical information across systems and teams for better co-ordinated and responsive action, but may improve safety too.

The innovative software, which implemented 8 new features to help protect the elderly and vulnerable in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, was recently awarded Best COVID-19 Software Solution in the Health Tech Digital Awards 2020. The software’s new functions, coupled with the practical and robust design of Ascom’s clinical device, which reduces contact with paper and plastic folders and is designed to be disinfected at the end of each shift, has been fundamental in helping care homes reduce the risk of spreading infection – contributing to this award success.

Person Centred Software is also celebrating having been ranked at No. 46 in the Sunday Times Sage Tech Track 100, cementing its place as one of Britain’s fastest growing tech companies with 466% revenue growth over the last three years.

As well as making waves in the UK, Person Centred Software is being recognised globally, recently having been shortlisted for ‘Best Technology’ in the Future of Ageing Awards 2020 - a celebration of leadership and innovation across Australia's aged care industry.

Speaking of the partnership, Jonathan Papworth, Co-Founder and Director of Person Centred Software, says: "Our partnership with Ascom provides our customers with an incredibly low total cost of ownership for their handheld devices, and opens up the world of interoperability between all the systems in use in a care home. We are confident that the Ascom Myco 3 provides the best possible handset available to long-term care providers in terms of functionality, security and costs."

Paul Lawrence, Managing Director of Ascom UK, adds: “The contract extension shows significant success in our close partnership with Person Centred Software, and confirms the solid market position Ascom has in the UK in supplying long-term care facilities with sophisticated communication solutions. The Myco 3 is transforming long term care by facilitating fluent workflows, fast responses and fact-based decisions. We are looking forward to shipping the units soon.”
