Amicura implements care planning software across its group of homes

Amicura, founded in 2018 and part of the Minster Care Group and Fairways Care, is a group of ten care homes operating across the UK. With an established growing portfolio of care homes, the organisation offers person-centred care for older people and provides high-end residential, dementia, nursing, respite and palliative care.

Brendan O'Neill, technology development manager at Amicura Care Homes, discusses the rollout of care management software across the group. 

Since joining Amicura six months ago, I've been involved in the rollout of care management software across the organisation. Prior to this, I had worked in care and managed a care home for people with Mental Health needs. I also sold care planning systems and trained customers on how to use them; with various experiences both from a supplier and provider point of view, I believe that I have a good understanding of the benefits of good care management software.

Before implementing Person Centred Software's Digital Care System, some of our sites were paper-based or used other digital care planning systems, which weren't always easy for staff to navigate.

We needed a care planning system that was easy to use, helped us to improve standards, automate processes, increase resident safety and well-being, and provide better evidence of care to meet regulations.

We started rolling out Person Centred Software's Digital Care System at one of our 50-bedded care homes, The Rivers. Since then, we have implemented the system in a further four or five homes, with more to follow by the end of the year.

It's easy to extract all the information home managers need with the Digital Care System; it's also easy for staff to use. I love how the system can capture, retrieve, and collate all the information for you; it makes our lives much easier. As far as the carers and managers are concerned, it's an excellent system; it's given them what they need and used to its full potential.

It's much easier for carers to record and evidence care with Person Centred Software's handheld devices - even staff who are not as up-to-date with technology find the software easy to use.
