One of the UK’s leading digital care systems has teamed up with another innovative care company to help care homes save essential time, money and resources on monitoring and distributing medication.
Person Centred Software, a digital care technology pioneer, has integrated its Mobile Care Monitoring system with CareMeds, a software application that changes the way pharmacies and care providers manage their patients and residents’ medications.
The combined solution will mean nurses and other care staff can both administer medication and have access to resident records all in one place. The benefit of having all administration data on one device will free up more time for staff to care for residents, while avoiding unnecessary costs on additional hardware.
Being rolled out at a time when care homes across the UK are being stretched to breaking point due to the coronavirus pandemic, the integration will provide a quick and easily accessible solution to all medication and care plans. In addition, no specialist IT knowledge or skills are required to work the application, which runs on all Android devices.
Heidi Thomas, Head of Marketing at Person Centred Software, said: “We’ve been in partnership with CareMeds for about 12 months now, and it’s amazing to see we’re already able to integrate our products to offer a solution that is benefiting care homes across the UK, which we know have been seriously stretched over the last six months. Having care plans and medications in one place is ideal in environments where time should be spent with residents, and not absorbed by administrative tasks.”
Kristian Bade, Territory Manager at CareMeds, said: “Medication administration and care planning are driving digitisation in the care sector. CareMeds provide the missing link between the care provider and pharmacy. We take the patient medication data created within the pharmacy and put it at the fingertips of the care provider within the CareMeds eMAR application. This ensures the medication is administered as prescribed by the doctor, thus saving time and reducing errors. CareMeds eMAR can also be used in conjunction with the MultiMeds blister system, making the physical aspect of medication administration safer and more effective.
Kristian adds: “It was clear that integrating this information into a market leading care planning system would provide a one-stop global view of a resident’s record that any care provider would want and come to expect. Person Centred Software were an obvious choice of partner. The integration means that when care homes use our app to administer medication, the data feeds into Person Centred Software’s Mobile Care Monitoring system, compiling all records in one place to provide a total overview of the resident’s care and medication activities."
