Leading provider of care technology named amongst top 50 of UK’s fastest growing tech companies

Published in Care Home Professional

One of the UK’s leading providers of digital care systems has been ranked in the top 50 of the Sunday Times’ 20th anniversary Tech Track 100 – as its exponential growth within the care sector is recognised.

Person Centred Software, renowned for its Mobile Care Monitoring system, which allows staff to digitally plan, record and monitor the care of residents in real-time, has been ranked at No. 46 in the Sunday Times Sage Tech Track 100, cementing its place as one of Britain’s fastest growing tech companies  – with 466% revenue growth for the last three years.

Being a special Covid-19 edition, this year’s Tech Track highlights the important contribution that technology companies have made to the UK during the pandemic, from supporting the NHS to enabling remote working.

Person Centred Software adapted its Mobile Care Monitoring system, an easy-to-use icon-based app, to better support staff in care environments during the pandemic, with 94% of users finding its coronavirus-specific features beneficial.

Throughout the last four months, its software, which is used in over 2,000 care homes across the UK, has seen the implementation of eight new features to help protect the elderly and vulnerable.

These included coronavirus reporting, staff coronavirus auditing, track and trace reporting, and its Relatives Gateway video link. Person Centred Software’s Care App has been found to save each carer one hour per shift to complete administrative tasks, as opposed to how long it would take using paper, which is crucial at a time when staff absence and agency usage are on the increase.

Jonathan Papworth, co-founder and director of Person Centred Software, said: “Care homes have been criticised in the media for their handling of the Covid-19 pandemic – initially for the number of infections, then for locking down and keeping families apart. The reality is that throughout this period, carers have been wonderful at helping the most vulnerable in society in incredibly challenging circumstances. We are incredibly pleased to be representing the social care sector and hope that by receiving this accolade our customers can share in our success.”

Person Centred Software was started in 2013 with the objective of helping to improve standards in social care. Its software is revolutionising adult social care by enabling carers to digitally record care as it is given – saving admin time of about three days per person, improving carer and nursing staff retention in a sector that has a chronic staff shortage.

A survey carried out by the company on its customers in July found that 83% of care providers valued how well it had responded to sector and individual needs during the pandemic, with more than 87% of providers finding its coronavirus action icon useful. Furthermore, 88% of providers found its care monitor invaluable for real-time monitoring, especially as it can be accessed remotely if required.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Person Centred Software also made its Relatives Gateway feature - an online portal enabling relatives to stay in contact with their loved ones - free for sharing messages, photos and video links. This decision led to a 50% increase in usage of the feature, with over 5,200 people using it on a monthly basis at the height of the pandemic.

The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s 100 private tech companies with the fastest-growing sales over their last three years. It is compiled by Fast Track and published in The Sunday Times each September, with an awards dinner in November, and alumni dinners during the year. This year’s awards will be held as a virtual event on Tuesday, 3rd November 2020 with the opportunity to interact and for one-to-one video networking.
