Final deadline approaches to secure funding for digital social care records
The former Health Secretary aimed for 80% of social care providers to have digital social care records (DSCRs) by March 2024. However, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) minister acknowledged earlier this year, falling behind their original target on the rollout of DSCRs across England.
Digital social care record systems will benefit care providers by:
- Making it easier to capture information at the point of care
- Enabling staff to respond more quickly to individuals' needs
- Facilitating a quick, safe, and secure way of sharing important information across different care settings
- Reducing risks to individuals' safety.
Having a digital social care record system offers many additional advantages as well.

So, when is the deadline?
Funding will close in March 2025, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) deadline for completing the digitisation process.
By this time, the DHSC's target is for 80% of social care providers to be using a DSCR system and 80% of people being supported to have an individual DSCR.
Digitising Social Care has launched a campaign, 'Tick tock—the clock is ticking,' to remind care providers that there's a limited time to access funding to go digital.
Since the launch of the Digitising Social Care (DiSC), 'Clock is Ticking' campaign in April this year, more than 900 new care locations have been supported to implement a digital social care record system.
The campaign called on care organisations to take advantage of government funding and local support while it's still available and serves as a critical reminder that time is of the essence in making this important shift towards digitisation in the social care sector.
Over 70% of adult social care providers now use a digital solution to plan and record care, significantly benefiting staff and the people they support.

Assistance in completing the necessary funding documents and connecting with your local ICS
If you need funding to implement a digital social care record system, contact your local Integrated Care System (ICS). ICSs are partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services in an area. They have replaced Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
Each ICS sets their own priorities and processes for applying for funding.
Alternatively, Person Centred Software has helped numerous care providers apply for funding.
