Be sure to stay up to date with everything happening during #SCKeepingInTouch Week
From the 18th to 24th November 2024, the care sector, with the support of Person Centred Software, will be celebrating the season of togetherness by putting on a week of fun-filled activities that will bring everyone involved in care, whether it’s residents, their families or staff, closer together!
Person Centred Software will be recognising the value of community in social care by celebrating Keeping in Touch Week and providing a week of engaging and meaningful activities that will bring everyone involved in care closer together. We're doing this because we recognise significant role community plays in resident experience. Loneliness has a massive impact on the quality of life for those living in care, especially during the long winter evenings where issues like sundowning in those living with dementia or seasonal effective disorder can become more prevalent, not to mention having fewer opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
In fact, while for many the winter period and the festivities that take place during it are a time of great celebration and togetherness, it’s an altogether different story for some older people, who’s sense of loneliness is only heightened during this time of the year.
Did you know?
24% of older people have expressed concern that the festive period will heighten their sense of loneliness
That is why we’re hosting Keeping in Touch Week; it’s a chance for everyone involved in making a care home a real community – those living in care, their families, and those working in care, to get together and tackle the epidemic of chronic loneliness in older people by getting involved in a wide range of fun-filled activities that will enhance community spirit, bring happiness and forge meaningful memories.
What’s involved during Keeping in Touch Week?
From Monday right through to Sunday there are a whole host of fun-filled activities to be enjoyed by everyone involved in care, including Afternoon Tea & Games, Baking, Decorating and much more.
